Dissapointly slow and tedious. A massive opportunity missed. The Director has decided to switch backwards and forwards through multiple timelines in a monument to his cleverness but just overly complicates an interesting plot. Your brain just gets overloaded and you lose interest rapidly. Guy Pearce as Philby is excellent which I suppose is some consolation. And what is the obsession with filming these historical dramas in semi darkness? Your eyes are tested along with your ears and brain. I suppose it's preferable to a night of suduko but only just. I was really looking forward to this but feel robbed.
