And Just Like That S02E08 720p WEB-DL x265
I have been a devoted fan of the original SATC for many years. I first watched it with my mom , when I was just just a teenager, and although I didn't (at the time) understand much of it, I remember how it made my mom laugh. When I was in my 20's I've rewatched the series, now with a better understanding. And to me this show was always mostly about friendship, the kind we only read about in books or watch on tv. It was inspiring, witty, it covered somewhat uncomfortable topics with irony and light humor- it was perfect. Now in my 30's I've rewatched it again, and came to understand the characters better, see the things I didn't notice before. It's still as good as it was, and it still covers important topics, but to me it is mainly about friendship. At least that's how I see it. The acting was good and believable, the characters were well written. Maybe that's the reason why so many women related to these 4 friends ? Myself included. Now, I've watched the new show. I understand that the times have changed, and as in life , so do people , their circumstances, likes and dislikes. But this is a fictional show about fictional people. By adding these new characters and new storylines , the fictional world and friendship between the 3 (minus Sam) women is gone. The magic is gone. Not everything in real life has to translate literally to fictional world . That's why we have books and shows, and comedy overall- to find the humor in , sometimes, hard life situations. Mostly, what disappointed me is that I cannot recognize the original Carrie, Charlotte and especially Miranda in these new people. It feels like Ms Nixon is pretty much playing herself (there is nothing left of Miranda) , as does SJP (maybe with a little spark of Carrie, and an abundance of crazy couture clothing) . Charlotte is just plain awkward and lacks any intellect. What happened ? I loved her character the most in the original, she was this perfect girl, who was feminine and smart, and who knew exactly what she wanted. She was confident and had strong opinions .Charlotte was also a bit of a prude, and was always lovingly picked at by her friends. Also, the teenagers are all angry and depressed . Why is that such a stereotype in American films? Not all teenagers are like that. There are lots that are pretty happy with who they are. In conclusion, i think what this show lacks is good writing and good acting. They could have done a better job , if they just stuck with the main characters as they were.
