I was a fan of the novels. Julia Quinn is renowned for her quick-witted banter & her character - Lady Danbury - is an especially beloved old curmudgeon who infamously delivers the most rapier-like burns. Whoever adapted the books for Netflix is tragically devoid of any wit whatsoever. The writing is awful and so very unfaithful to the novels or even actual history that it is extremely difficult to immerse oneself in this travesty of a universe Shonda Rhimes has created. Terrible screenplay and woke-like revisions of history aside (I say this as a woman of color, FYI), some of the actors were absolutely dreadful. The amount of overacting we were subjected to by certain characters almost made it seem like they were playing caricatures of Quinn's originals. Abominable.
