They tried waaay too hard to re-invent the show by changing how it's made and the style it has. Horrible direction that doesn't know what to tell the actors to do. Writing that doesn't have a good story, and has an even worse script. But this is all tied together by a cast and acting that are mostly horrible and flat, like the lighting. Gossip Girl (2007) has a unique and original style, and still holds up to this day. It captivates visually because of outstanding costuming and great sets and cinematography. This show looks bland and has bland everything else. I'm MASSIVELY disappointed, as I'm a HUGE fan of the original. I think it deserves the 33% it currently has on Rotten Tomatoes. It went down to 31% in less than an hour. (2007 has 79% certified fresh for Season 1. Just watch that on HBO Max.)
