You can probably sum up this movie in 3 paragraphs, which makes it very difficult to stretch it over 1.5 hrs and make it interesting. On top of that the pacing of this movie is odd and the conclusion is crammed into the last 10 minutes and it seems like they ran out of time and skipped a bunch of possible outcomes and lost opportunity for better development of story and characters. I realize it is based on a true story, but there are also more colorful ways to tell a story. As heroic as this story is, we have to call it for what it is- a boring one, and head-levelly agree that some stories are not worthy of made into a movie; There are probably 100's of heroic stories like that every year. Not to take away from the good acting by Naomi Watts and the courage to appear as a vulnerable, disturbed character, it is just not enough to solidify a full-length feature film. I would say this movie should never have been made. Even if you like the elements and watching survival-based movies I would confidently say this one will bore you and leave you scratching your head at many many points. Exact score: 44 / 100.
