I would like to believe that if Anne Rice lived to see this recreation of her novel that she would be ecstatic. The acting is outstanding and execution of the written text into storytelling was flawless. I've never been satisfied with the original movie and I hated Tom Cruise as Lestat. I'm aware that Ms. Rice was pleased with his performance, but I believe she would adore this depiction of Lestat. The series shows his multidimensional personality as well as showing Louis as more than the brooding bore he was depicted in the original movie. I can understand that the time constraints of a movie cannot truly show the depths of character that a miniseries can. This miniseries is brilliantly done and does the book and its author proud.
