First of all I'd like to mention that I saw only 3 episodes that premiered so the review will be based just on them. The cast is just too good to miss out on. I obviously excpected Elizabeth Olsen to be 11/10 and she still managed to impress me. And also I was really impressed with Jesse Plemons and Lily Rabe. They were cast perfectly, just the way I'd want them to play. All of these actors make sure this story is not just told from Candy's perspective, or the morally right perspective. Which I really appreciate. Even though this promotes itself as a crime show, it's very much about love. The character study is impressive but maybe a bit too slow, but it's not a problem since every second with Olsen is appreciated. Like I said it's very much about love but after ep 3 I think death will also come in. How does this compare to 2022's Candy? Well it's looks just like a much better remake. Bigger budget, bigger cast, better script. Candy was almost like a documentary about the murder, this feels like an actual show. It's sad that some people already know the story because Candy released sooner than Love and Death. I find it almost perfect, almost because I do have one tiny problem. It makes cheating look like a not bad idea. IT IS A BAD IDEA. Don't cheat. From the time and place it's understandable that both people wanted more fun in their life, but I think the show shouldn't romanticize it as much. Expecting Emmys for the whole cast.
