Marvels Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur Complete S02 720p WEB-DL x265
Moon Girl is stylish, inspirational, and a delight to watch. The titular character has a supportive family (which she is also very supportive of!), a keen intellect, and a tendency to get into and sometimes cause trouble. Devil the dinosaur, her partner in fighting crime, is adorable and has a puppy-like vibe, giving his name irony. I've seen most of the first six episodes, and it's presented as a "lesson of the day" format, but without a great deal of preachiness (again, irony with the title here). The lessons flow well into the plot and are even incorporated into the battles. Battles against villains (or would-be villains come friends) includes stylish music, including some show-stoppers by popular artists that tie in well to the theme of the episode. The art pops like crazy in these scenes, and people are gonna compare it to Into the Spider-Verse. Yeah, it's lit like that. That said, while I love the style, format, and lessons of the show, I think it struggles to stay grounded (pun intended). It has already somewhat run into the trap of "protagonist learns lessons and forgets them when the plot calls for it", and I expect the trend will continue. Having great standalone episodes is great, but we've already seen Disney shows that can have both great standalone episodes and overall consistency with Phineas and Ferb and Milo Murphy's Law. These shows grew funnier over time, with an immense amount of layered humor, several interweaving plots, and beloved characters. Like the titular character, Moon Girl and Devil Dinosaur has a ton of potential and has lots of style, but could really use a more cohesive direction.
