If your teenaged school student son is responsible for shooting dead another teenaged student of the school in the school premises, then what do you say when brought face to face with the parents of the killed boy ? This is the premise on which the movie is based, and the setting where the parents meet is a room in a church building. The parents sit on opposite sides of a small table and are left alone for one hour 50 minutes ( real time) to talk to each other. A harrowing time not only for them but also for the audience. This movie is not easy to watch dealing as it does with emotional outbursts and acrimony. Charges and counter charges fly thick and fast, tempers run high and there is anger, agony, pain, regret, distress, guilt and grief in plenty. The flawed upbringing of the kid is brought up a couple of times. Could the tragedy have been avoided ? ( If you had treated your psychopath son, this would not have happened ) While restitution appears impossible, there is talk of retribution and lack of accountability in very bitter terms. The parents describe the shooting, the suffering and the aftermath in graphic details which are spine chilling even without any visuals. The raw grief is exceedingly palpable. The acting of all four actors is top class. It is difficult to judge who does better. They have brought out their simmering anger so realistically and we do feel their pain. Director Fran Cranz needs to be congratulated for making a fine film. The film is experimental in nature in quite a few ways. The camera doesn't move out of the room except for few shots of 30 seconds of outside scenery. The filming is done mainly in close ups , slow panning and with static camera placements. It gets monotonous obviously but the dialogue delivery is so charged up that the audience remains hooked to the heated arguments. All four characters remain seated at all times except once when they walk a bit.
