Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) and her husband, Frank (Tobias Menzies) travel across Scotland, touring old sites and regaling in Frank's ancestry, but when Claire stumbles upon a mysterious circle of stones, she is instantly teleported backwards in time by 200 years, in the height of the Highlanders' reign. It is there that she meets Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), a man who takes a liking to her, and gives her the moniker, 'Outlander'. The story flows nicely and the characters are well developed overall. The script for each of the seasons seems to deal with one antagonist, with a culminating end, and a new antagonist by each seasons' end. The first seasons seem more brutal by comparison, which is to say that the development leads to a 'better' place for the leads. Cinematography is top notch and the special effects - especially the physical make up (scarring) - are exquisite! Definitely worth a watch!
