I did read several of the existing reviews and i wonder where those viewers are from. I say this because while the writing could be better for this show, it actually mimics life in hawaii pretty well. Characters like sonny, hina, kainalu and laka fit real life people. Many times, shows/moves based in hawaii don't show the real hawaii or culture. Some of the things laka said made me giggle because i thought only people from hawaii would understand that! Uncle sonny seems like a real uncle with real life challenges. Hina portrays the local girl who is just trying to make it on her own and try to get away from the many responsibilities we have growing up that we are sort of "forced" to do because that's what we do. Overall, i liked the show because it gives me a taste of home. It could use some work though!
