I was excited to hear there was a Roswell reboot until I saw the trailer, then all hopes were dashed by the lame, adult version The CW was trying to revive. I'm guessing studios have to reboot all the old TV shows from the '90s because they don't want to lose their properties, and have to make something to retain rights, so, they're quickly throwing anything together. 'Cause, frankly, all the new reboots have sucked on varying levels. The only one that was okay was BH 90210. Will & Grace was also okay, but from a great show to an okay reboot isn't what people are looking for. All I could figure they were shooting for in this show is their own version of the Chicago franchise where story & acting is irrelevant and all that matters is if you're hot. Everyone is varying levels of hot or attractive, with the exception of Michael, who looks like Alex Winters from Bill & Ted. The bad acting is known pretty immediately when Max attempts to save Liz with his powers, like in the original, but new Max looks like he's pooping when he's saving Liz. What is meant to be a dramatic moment is lost by my giggling. New Max got a second round of giggles from me when he started yelling at Isabelle for no reason because she chastised him for potentially blowing their cover. I take it new Max's acting skills are on level 1 or level 10, and no in-between. The writing is the worst. For a second I wondered if all the writers were 22-yr-old children of executives who pulled strings to get them a writing gig, and shoved them all into this show, 'cause, it's ridiculously bad. The writing is so bad it reminds me of the filler scenes from '80s Skinemax movies, where every scene seems like filler to lead each character to a sexual encounter. And it's not like the FX were high budget in the original Roswell, but these are B--movie kind of bad. Basically, this show is for cat ladies or future cat ladies, they just want to see a variety of hot men hook up with Liz and Maria, and story is irrelevant. Whatever charm the old show has is nowhere to be found in this laughable reboot. You have to wonder if money is bleeding out of the networks based on how awful their shows have become. It's not like the original Roswell was rocket science, but it was good and they understood how to engage an audience and pull them into their character's stories and care. That kind of story telling has seemed to evaporate from network dramas. Whatever, not like anyone will miss the networks when they crumble.
