I was so looking forward to this....and I'm so disappointed. Why....when you go to such lengths to create the locations/interior sets/lighting/costumes etc - do you then lose all your hard earned....and expensive credibility - by choosing to go with a colour blind cast? It simply makes a nonsense of what is a reasonably authentic historical drama. People of colour were rare and certainly didn't hold positions of power...including being an abbot of a substantial monastery. Nor did they pop up as peasants in a remote English coastal town and elsewhere. Why...for the sake of diversity and box ticking - do you throw away your historical drama's credibility?
