I like my TV or movie superheroes' to be heavily muscled and grown up! However I really enjoyed Stargirl. Teenager Courtney Whitmore is trying to fit into her new school, new family and new community, but that's all kind of easy! Courtney's real challenge is becoming Stargirl and finding her way as a superhero. Brec Bassinger does a good job of playing Courtney Whitmore/Stargirl, and makes both characters likeable. Luke Wilson is solid as Pat Dugan, he plays Courtney's step dad, and is the shows voice of reason and experience. The rest of cast is strong and a good fit, the story telling is done well and kept me interested. As expected with a superhero show there is plenty of excitement, fight scenes and good vs evil. The show was far from perfect, but a good effort for TV. It made me more interested to find out more about the JSA and their origins and history.
