Good Morrow, countrymen. As the pox continues to ravage the country, there are still a few independents who are "bravely" making small budget films in remote locations...socially distancing from the scourge. A scant few of these quickie pandemic productions are mediocre at best, most are a small step up from whooping cough. This effort is solid mediocre, which adjusted on the pox curve, makes it...probably worth your time if you're genre fan and starved for anything remotely resembling horror. I'm an "older fan," so a plot featuring social media "influencer" types isn't going to excite me, but here I didn't find it too annoying. The two leads are upbeat nuisances with their camera and hyper-fake yammering. I think they visit Air BnB type of places and leave reviews...it really doesn't matter. In this, they meet a looney tunes who reminded me of the Overly Attached Girlfriend - wide eyes, insanely upbeat and vaguely deranged. She owns the nice rental home in the Mt. Charleston NV (cool place not too far from Vegas) where the two internet losers are staying. That's the set-up. Small cast and one location...the indi-pox film battle plan. I did enjoy some the subtle homage to the beloved 80's slashers...and I do love a downbeat ending, especially one that involves a Rainbow Bridge for Influencers. Unfortunately, the tone here is just too light-hearted to be taken seriously. With all that, it's short - competently made, mildly enjoyable...but forgettable. Last thought...there seems to be slew of films centering on rentals with creepy owners. The Rental, Welcome Home, come to mind. Fare thee well, it's hoecakes and Madeira time.
