I remember the Angelina Jolie movie (EDIT: that movie is *not* associated w/ this series, which is based on the 2017 Victor LaValle book of the same name. If I remember correctly, the movie is a similar concept, hence the name, but this is an entirely different ride. Impatient for ep 4, so I just downloaded the book), which I did not love, so I went in not expecting much. So far, this show is fantastic. I will take an actual plot and mystery over bad acting and jump scares any day. I read the one star review about skipping scenes and, seriously, give me a break. There was nothing confusing or boring about the two storylines at all. Also, someone mentioned the timeline is off. It's not. Apollo meets Emma in 2010, not the present day (which is why the poster thought they got it wrong with Apollo being in his 30s instead of 40s). I'll probably save the rest of the episodes for a good binge since Apple likes to release only the first three at once.
