I've only watched a couple of episodes and I'm glad I'm giving this series a shot. As always, I enter with caution when it comes to book-to-screen adaptations, as more than a few turn out to be disappointments. This series does justice to the core themes of the book - I think the actors, both the younger version of the characters as well as the older ones, give moving performances that kept me going. The soundtracks establish the tone and keep you in the melodramatic, exciting, whimsical, comically exhilarating world. Of course, there's plenty of absurdity, but the good parts make up for it. I've kept my rating as 7 based on the episodes I've already watched, I may change it as I progress.
