This is a surprisingly enjoyable film based on a son's memoirs growing up with an absent father. The presentation of growing up in the 70's and 80's is well presented along with a great soundtrack. This included the home décor, classic cars, and hangouts people went to. The characters are relatable although some dialog was hard to hear. The story's focus was on the son, so there was little character development on other characters. It also took me a while to accept the East coast accents from some of these actors. The story is based around family, friends, lovers, and acquaintances we encounter with additional attention to how we deal with more troubling relationships. If you grew up in the 70's or 80's, this will take you down memory lane. Disclosure: My wife and I attended a free screening by Amazon to see this at an actual theater. We went in expecting a nice night out and left with the experience of seeing a good movie.
