The Wheel of Time S01E07 1080p WEB-DL DD5.1 x265
You know a show is mediocre when you still haven't grown attached to any of the characters after 6 episodes. Nothing really meshes or engrosses you, from acting, to plots, to effects, to sets. Even the world falls flat, despite its pretty locales and scenery. It tries to be the next Game of Thrones, but the plot doesn't have enough intrigue and politics, the acting is stiff and uninspired, and production is a mix of hits and misses. Sets go from amazing taverns that look like something out of LOTR, to cheap caves that belong on Nickelodeon. In fact, much of the series has a "Hercules: The Legendary Journeys" stink to it, and it only gets worse every time an Aes Sedai casts a spell, or anyone opens their mouth. And ya, it's woke. The wokeness literally flows from The Source (i.e. The Execs at Amazon HQ). For example, you have villages entirely comprised of mixed races. We're not talking big cities, here. We're talking small farm towns whose inhabitants complain they've never seen the outside world. Get it? A town full of migrants, where their boring life never changes, but somehow managed to develop enough genetic diversity to give the human genome project a run for its money. That's one of the main problems with the show. You have to shut down so many brain cells, you end up not really watching the show, and therefore not getting engrossed. I still hope it will get better, but at this point I'm only watching out of routine.
